SUMMARY:Groupwork – The 4 Variations- Presenting\, Leading\, Facilitating\, and Train-the-trainer eWorkshop 3-May-2022
DESCRIPTION:These four approaches are all Groupwork processes – similar and overlapping\, yet quite different. In each of these\, the needs of the participants are always foremost and guide what we do\, yet how we do this varies enormously. This workshop will take you through all four processes. \n‘Presenting’: is more about the presenter’s content; who is seeking to pass something on; ideas\, information\, strategies… \n‘Leading’: is also about the leader’s content and they are taking people through it\, but constantly guided by input from participants and blending the two. \n‘Facilitating’: is all about the content of the participants. The facilitator helps others work through their concerns\, topics\, issues\, worries\, hopes or dreams. Ideally\, a very clear role for the facilitator is negotiated beforehand; and an essential part of this is being clear as to whether the facilitator is guided completely by the participants or whether the facilitator’s role is more ‘dynamic’ where they have permission to raise things which the group may have overlooked. This is a vital consideration particularly when the facilitator has experience/knowledge of the content area. \n‘Train the trainer’: “Train-the-Trainer” can refer to different processes\, so I thought I’d let you know just how I will be approaching it in this workshop. Person A (that’s you) has become very knowledgeable and skilled in your craft; and if you work in the community\, health or youth sectors\, you will be working with people in some way. So you are now training other workers; ie persons B in how to work with persons C (clients). And so you might want to know more about what are generally regarded as ‘Adult Learning Principles’\, about how to be engaging and interesting in how you train and about how to respond to potential questions and challenges from those you will be training. So if you are person A\, then this workshop might just be helpful to you. \nWhen: Tuesday 3rd May 2022 from 9.30am to 4.30pm. \nWhere: Online via Zoom- you will be sent the Zoom details in the week before the eWorkshop. \nCost: The early bird booking is $330 registration occurs before 19th April 2022 (GST included). The fee for registrations after the 19th April 2022 is $385 (GST included). \nTo register: Register and complete payment. A Tax Invoice will be emailed to you. The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs\, for the registration to be fully confirmed. \nFacilitator: Peter Slattery \nPeter has worked with individuals\, families and communities for over 30 years. He lives in Sydney\, but works throughout Australia as well as Asia\, Europe and North America. He has written ‘Youth works’ and produced the training DVD ‘Conversations with young people’\, and most recently the group work resource ‘THOUGHTPICS’. He strives constantly to find or develop new\, exciting and ever more useful ways of helping people explore what troubles or inspires them. In this quest\, he calls on anything that might be helpful; physical movement\, theatre\, storytelling\, drawing\, what might be called ‘humour’ and really\, anything at all that might add something to this process.
