SUMMARY:Online workshop: Supporting Separated Families
DESCRIPTION:Understand the separation process and how to support families going through separation or divorce.\nSeparation can be a difficult time for both parents and their children. \nIt’s normal for separating families to experience a range of strong emotions and family members often need to adjust to new living arrangements. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll learn about the impacts of the separation process for parents\, children and adolescents\, and ways to help them manage this change\, within your work context. \n\n\n  \n\n\nLearning outcomes\nAt the end of this workshop\, you’ll be able to: \n\ndemonstrate knowledge of the separation process and how it impacts families and children\ndemonstrate knowledge of the family law system and family dispute resolution (FDR)\nidentify behaviours that children may demonstrate as a result of separation\, and strategies to manage those behaviours\nhelp parents to better manage their separation and support their children\nidentify when families need more support and where to refer them.\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nIdeal for\nCommunity organisation workers\, school staff\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers\, and counsellors. \n\n\n\n  \n\nAbout the presenters\nAstrid Horter is the Program Leader FDR and Mediation Training at Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV). She holds tertiary qualifications in law and psychology and is an experienced family dispute resolution practitioner (FDRP) and child consultant. Astrid coordinates the RAV CHC81115 Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution\, as well as the Mediation Training Course\, and delivers training at RAV and for external organisations. She has extensive experience working in community organisations as a clinical supervisor\, trainer and manager. \nJohn Ravesi is a highly experienced FDRP\, mediator\, counsellor and provides individualised coaching in these areas of expertise. He is currently a trainer and assessor for RAV’s FDR and mediation training programs and delivers a range of programs to external organisations. He has held multiple senior leadership\, supervisory and clinical roles within a variety of community organisations. \nAdrien March is an FDRP with a broad base of skills and experience\, including mediation practice\, training and dispute resolution research. Her practice experience covers mediating using facilitative and transformative models in the FDR and National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) schemes. Adrien’s specialisations include working with rainbow families and high-conflict disputes. Her training expertise includes course development and conducting FDR and NMAS training\, coaching and evaluation for RAV and other organisations. \nCath Tregillis is a highly experienced FDRP with qualifications in dispute resolution and family therapy. She has worked across community organisations as a manager\, clinical supervisor and trainer and has provided mediation and restorative processes in family\, community and workplace settings. She is currently a trainer and assessor within RAV’s FDR and Mediation training programs. \n\n\n\n  \n\nRegistration information\n\nWhen you register\, you’ll be taken to our payment gateway to complete your registration.
