SUMMARY:Principles in Practice – Supporting Adult Survivors of Complex Trauma - Blue Knot Foundation
DESCRIPTION:This one day interactive professional development training shares insights and learnings from current research and clinical best practice\, and provides participants with new skills to utilise in their work with adult survivors of complex trauma. \nComplex trauma\, by its very nature\, is characterised by a range of ‘complexities’ and people affected are not a homogenous group. Many and varied factors influence the diverse impacts of complex trauma and the range of ways in which people cope and adapt. \nBy attending this training you’ll be better equipped with the knowledge\, skills\, tools and insights to understand the dimensions\, dynamics and stakes of complex trauma and to minimise the risk of re-traumatisation.  In turn\, your clients are more likely to be engaged in a therapeutic relationship in which trust\, safety\, empowerment and hope enhance possibilities for recovery in your work together. \nAt the session’s completion participants will be better able to: \n\nDemonstrate knowledge of prevalence\, definitions\, context\, types of trauma and attachment dynamics\nDemonstrate an understanding of the different impacts of trauma across realms of functioning\, ‘adaptive’ coping strategies and implications for models of treatment\, practice and systems of care\nDemonstrate skills  of the principles of trauma informed care\, recovery and the phases of treatment for complex trauma\nDevelop a plan\, underpinned by the 5 principles of trauma informed care\, for improved practice at the individual and organisational level\nDemonstrate knowledge of the ‘window of tolerance’ in terms of hyper-arousal and under-arousal and its relationship to re-traumatisation prevention\nDemonstrate  understanding  of the implications for treatment in the potential for the  health professional to be seen as an ‘attachment figure’\nDemonstrate skills of basic resource building to promote recovery and  minimise affect dysregulation and dissociation\n\nMaterial presented in the training will be comprehensive\, and will draw on the research based on the Blue Knot Foundation’s Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma and Trauma Informed Care and Service Delivery www.blueknot.org.au/guidelines \n\n\nWorkshop Details\n\nTime: 9:00am to 4:30pm\n\n\n\n\n\n(Registration from 8:45am)\nLunch\, morning and afternoon tea will be provided. \nCost\nEarly Bird* Regular – $261\nRegular – $290 \nEarly Bird* Group (3+) – $248\nRegular Group (3+) – $276 \nEarly Bird Professional** – $234\nProfessional Member** – $261 \nEarly Bird* Student – $207\nStudent – $230 \n*The early bird price applies to all bookings for workshops made 8 weeks or more ahead of the training date.\n**You must be logged in as a Blue Knot Foundation professional member to be eligible for this price.
