DESCRIPTION:An in-service\, interactive workshop for direct service staff using creative prescribing approaches. Safe + Sound brings together evidenced based approaches and research about the cause and impact of vicarious trauma and burnout on direct service staff\, with accessible\, practical\, and inspiring strategies for daily prevention through creative prescribing. \nThis 3-hour workshop introduces the key concept of non-negotiable self-care\, as well as a framework for understanding different types of self-care practices\, from short relief and repair habits\, to deeper recharge and restoration strategies. \nThis trauma-informed workshop session includes: \n\n\nThe causes of burnout \n\n\nThe causes of vicarious trauma \n\n\nThe difference between these two experiences \n\n\nEarly signs \n\n\nKey early intervention strategies \n\n\nThe real meaning of ‘self-care’ \n\n\nNervous system 101 \n\n\nCreative First Aid in action \n\n\nCreating your own personal plan \n\n\nHands on experiential learning \n\n\nSafe + Sound is designed for any team\, staff group\, organisation\, professional network who engage in work that involves direct contact\, exchange and service delivery with people. \nWhen: Thursday\, 21st August 2025 from 9:30am to 12.30pm. (AEST) \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. If payment has been received\, you will receive the Zoom details in the week prior to the eWorkshop . \nCost: The early bird booking is $195.00 (GST incl) if registered before 7th August 2025\, after the 7th August the Full Price is $250.00 (GST incl). The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs\, for the registration to be fully confirmed. \nFacilitator: Caitlin Marshall is a social worker who has delivered Vicarious Trauma Management training to organisations across Australia for the past 6 years with Full Stop Australia. Caitlin is a Mental Health First Aid Instructor and has trained over 2000 people across Australia. As the co-founder of MakeShift\, she has designed and facilitated a range of workshops and courses for professionals and community members with a focus on trauma-informed practice\, self-care\, burnout prevention and workplace wellbeing. \nMakeShift has pioneered Creative First Aid programs\, courses and workshops across Australia for the last decade. From 2019-2022 we delivered an 8-week Creativity on Prescription course for First Responders who experienced psychological injury at work. This award winning program produced incredible outcomes\, with overall\, participants experiencing a marked decrease in symptoms of PTSD\, depression and anxiety. We have designed and delivered training for bushfire recovery volunteers in South Coast NSW communities.
