SUMMARY:Trauma Informed Practice: Interviewing Clients in Relation to Difficult Events and Difficult Circumstances eWorkshop 18-June-2024
DESCRIPTION:Trauma informed practices guide workers in supporting clients in difficult circumstances. They also assist workers to manage their own stress and distress. \nMany workers in many different settings have to interview clients in regard to difficult events in their lives or in relation to difficult circumstances (for example events in the client’s past\, child protection concerns\, disputes with neighbours). This can occur at intake as well as during ongoing work with a client. \nWorkers frequently find the anticipation of these interviews difficult as well finding the interviews themselves a source of distress. In addition\, workers are\, quite reasonably\, concerned about the impact on clients of interviews where difficult events in their lives or difficult circumstances are discussed. \nThe training is aimed at developing the skills in conducting interviews with a particular focus on interviews where difficult events in the client’s life may be discussed and/or difficult circumstances in a way that is consistent with trauma-informed practices. \nAt the end of the training\, the participants will: \n\n\nHave extended their skills in conducting any type of interview \n\n\nHave developed their skills in planning interviews regarding difficult events and difficult circumstances in a way that is respectful of the client and their needs \n\n\nHave enhanced their skills in supporting clients during potentially difficult interviews \n\n\nHave greater knowledge and skill in promoting their well-being in the workplace \n\n\nHave developed their skills in delivering difficult news. \n\n\nThe training will be highly interactive and the participants will be encouraged to ask questions at any time. \nDetailed notes will be provided. \nWhen: Tuesday\, 18th June 2024 from 9.30am – 12.30pm (AEST). \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. If payment has been received\, you will receive the Zoom details in the week prior to the eWorkshop . \nCost: The early bird booking is $195.00 (GST incl) if registered before 4th June 2024\, after the 4th June the Full Price is $250.00 (GST incl). Payment is required before attending the eWorkshop. \nTo register: Register and complete payment. A Tax Invoice will be emailed to you. The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs\, for the registration to be fully confirmed. \nFacilitator: David Cherry \nThe training will be run by David Cherry a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who has been working for over 40 years. David had a private practice as a psychologist for over 25 years. David has conducted interviews for many different purposes as well as providing training on interviewing for a range of occupational groups. \n
