SUMMARY:Webinar: Vicarious Trauma in the Legal Profession
DESCRIPTION:When someone encounters a distressing or overwhelming event during their work\, or processes the emotions involved with their experiences\, vicarious trauma can be the result.\nPsychological trauma experienced within the legal profession can occur at multiple points including but not limited to: \n\nclient phone calls and communications\nreading and writing court reports\nthe experience of attending court and managing clients’ court experiences.\n\nThis workshop will explore different types of trauma and how they can impact staff. Factors that enhance and undermine resilience will be discussed. We will also outline strategies that you can use to manage vicarious trauma and maintain wellbeing at work. \n  \nLearning outcomes\nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nunderstand the nature and impact of vicarious trauma\nidentify tools for monitoring your own and others’ personal and professional wellbeing\nidentify strategies to reduce your risk\, and the risk of others\, of experiencing vicarious trauma\nrecognise the signs and symptoms that may indicate vicarious trauma is affecting wellbeing and work\nincorporate practices that support resilience and sustainability into work routines.\n\n  \nIdeal for\nLegal professionals. \n  \nAbout the presenter\nLilia Szarski is a clinical supervisor and experienced trainer at Relationships Australia Victoria and a qualified\, registered psychologist.
