DESCRIPTION:Fast\, challenging and fun… \nYoung people are super-physical\, super-influenced by their emotions\, and respond super-impulsively to what’s going on around them. So with all this in mind this workshop will take you through a process that looks at how to harness all this for the good of a group. We will look at the skills\, ways of thinking and practical strategies needed to run/facilitate groups with teenagers who at times can be challenging and difficult. We will look at the pivotal idea of Engagement and how to maintain that engagement over time. This is what we will cover: \n\nExperience 15 + activities\nUse of music and video\, physical movement\, scaling activities\, super simple theatre activities\, drawing\, conversation and silence as part of groupwork\nHow to plan a group ‘on the run’ with very little time\nHow to work with young people who may seemingly\, be grumpy\, scared\, angry\, bored\, don’t want to talk and/or just don’t want to be there\nHow to create strategies for the verbal and the not-so verbal\, including drawing\, theatre-based action-based\, physical movement oh and yes…thinking and talking…\nEmbedding ‘learning’ within activities\nBlending process and content\nManaging the ‘difficult’ stuff\nRules without rules\nBeing surprising and unexpected\nGroups not as rehearsal for change/growth\, but as a real experience of change/growth/development.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Managing the complex ethical and compliance issues that come with work in the community sector\, whether this be with staff\, clients\, stakeholders or even government officials\, can divert your precious energy and resources away from your mission and clients. As some organisations have experienced\, not getting it right can also mean reputational damage and/or deregistration as a charity. \nThis workshop shows that developing industry proven compliance tools and techniques for dealing with these issues is easier than you think and will position you and your organisation well in the market as government pushes ahead with sector reforms. \nThis course will help you: \n\nGet your team/staff working off the same page when it comes to professional and ethical conduct in the organisation and in the field.\nPromote the integrity of your organisation\, understand and meet government and Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) governance requirements and build your organisation’s reputation in the market place.\nHold local\, state and federal government officials accountable to the community and to your clients\, e.g.\, know how to approach suspected corruption\, maladministration and government waste without risking your funding support/relationships.\nIdentify organisational/staff integrity red-flags.\nManage complex conflicts of interests when working with your community\, including staff working with their own cultural community or board members’ relationships with service recipients.\nDeal effectively with allegations against your service in a way that that builds your good reputation in the community and with government.\nUnderstand and deal with government probity and accountability requirements.\nLearn the principles of internal investigations and anti-corruption.\n\nTarget Group: Board members\, Managers\, Coordinators\, Field workers\, HR and risk and compliance workers. \nLearning Outcomes:  \nParticipants will gain: \n\nAbility to diagnose\, analyse and treat professional and ethical conduct issues\, including the ability to identify red-flags and to support staff and clients through such matters.\nUnderstanding of the relevant NFP governance compliance responsibilities of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) and of government and how to meet them.\nA road map to building an integrity framework for the organisation\, including establishing Codes of Conduct\, whistle-blowing procedures\, conflicts of interest management policies and techniques\, a gifts and benefits policy\, a Statements of Business Ethics\, internal investigations processes\, and audit and risk linkages.\nKnowledge of government obligations and accountability frameworks\, including how to report suspected maladministration\, corruption or waste by government.\nTips and techniques for building and maintaining a reputation for organisational integrity.\n\nWhen: Tuesday\, 18 October 2016 from 9.30am to 4.30pm \nWhere: CatholicCare Training Room\, Mary Potter Building\, 2C West St\, (corner Thomas St)\, Lewisham NSW \nCost: The early bird booking is $242.00 before 15 September (GST included).
