DESCRIPTION:Fast\, challenging and fun… \nYoung people are super-physical\, super-influenced by their emotions\, and respond super-impulsively to what’s going on around them. So with all this in mind this workshop will take you through a process that looks at how to harness all this for the good of a group. We will look at the skills\, ways of thinking and practical strategies needed to run/facilitate groups with teenagers who at times can be challenging and difficult. We will look at the pivotal idea of Engagement and how to maintain that engagement over time. This is what we will cover: \n\nExperience 15 + activities\nUse of music and video\, physical movement\, scaling activities\, super simple theatre activities\, drawing\, conversation and silence as part of groupwork\nHow to plan a group ‘on the run’ with very little time\nHow to work with young people who may seemingly\, be grumpy\, scared\, angry\, bored\, don’t want to talk and/or just don’t want to be there\nHow to create strategies for the verbal and the not-so verbal\, including drawing\, theatre-based action-based\, physical movement oh and yes…thinking and talking…\nEmbedding ‘learning’ within activities\nBlending process and content\nManaging the ‘difficult’ stuff\nRules without rules\nBeing surprising and unexpected\nGroups not as rehearsal for change/growth\, but as a real experience of change/growth/development.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Developing an ethical/integrity framework for an organisation not only helps you comply with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) regulatory requirements but builds your organisation’s good reputation in the midst of sector reforms. \nYou don’t need to commission expensive professional service firms to establish this framework. It is something that you can do with the right professional guidance and a little time out from your regular activities. DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for anyone who may be involved in any sort of difficult conversation about almost any topic. \nThe workshop will cover: \n\nhow to structure a difficult conversation and find a positive purpose\nthe importance of empathy and when not to empathise\nkeeping the conversation on track and using language that does not create resistance.\nrecognising when not to have a difficult conversation and how to leave a conversation that may be unhelpful\ngaining agreement with the other party and making a plan for the future.\n\nThe workshop will cover a range of topics depending upon the interests of the group\, including: personality clashes in the workplace; delivering difficult news; supporting individuals who may be distressed; difficult performance conversations; responding to the difficult behaviour of another person; responding when another person criticizes you; when to engage in mediation and when not to engage in mediation; difficult conversations in close relationships\, among many other possible topics. \n

DESCRIPTION:Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) offers professionals an efficient\, user-friendly and evidenced based approach that is responsive to the practical realities of working with young people and adults. The role of counsellors\, and other professionals rests largely on the ability to interact with people in ways that emphasises individuals’ strengths/ resources\, identifies possible solutions and supports movement to change. \nWith an emphasis on “what works”\, SFBT focuses on the reality that change is the name of the game. It’s used with clients with anxiety\, depression\, trauma\, disruptive behaviours and a host of other emotional and well-being issues.
