DESCRIPTION:Theraplay Level 2 & MIM \nRegistrants should have attended Level One\, and have experience using Theraplay in their work before attending this training. \nThe training will include lots of practice and a wide range of video examples. Each day will include at least one case presentation to enhance your learning experience. Making a case presentation is not required\, but is an option if you would like to receive supervision. \nParticipants will practice Theraplay modifications for trauma\, along with developing and practicing a treatment plan for traumatised clients. \nDay 1: Core Concepts In-Depth and MIM Skill Development\nThis module will focus on several examples of MIMs and their interpretation to improve your comfort and skill in administering and interpreting this assessment.\nIn-depth application of the core concepts of Theraplay and current relevant research to case material\nMarschak Interaction Method (MIM) by Dimension: an in-depth analysis using case examples\nObservation and analysis of MIM using case material\nThe Parent feedback session: preparation and implementation to enhance the therapeutic relationship with caregivers \nLearning Objectives:\nDescribe the underlying principles of Theraplay\, a modality of play therapy\, and their relationship to current attachment and brain research\nAdminister and analyze the MIM at an intermediate skill level\nDevelop skills in the use of the MIM for treatment planning\nDescribe how to use feedback sessions with parents to transmit a sense of hopefulness and trust \nDay 2: Working with Parents and Building Your Theraplay Skills\nThis module will help improve the breadth of your Theraplay skill set to bring your Theraplay work to a higher skill level.\nAssessment of complex parents using case material: clinical decision making related to contraindications for Theraplay\nWorking with caregiver’s attachment history in Theraplay treatment planning\, feedback sessions and progress\nImplementation of the parent demonstration session\nManaging resistance throughout the treatment process\nManaging countertransference in your work with children and families\nRole play and practice of activities \nLearning Objectives:\nDescribe methods for overcoming parental resistance\nDescribe factors that influence the decision of whether to include parents in the treatment session\nDemonstrate how to use a wider range of Theraplay activities and techniques\nDescribe how to adapt Theraplay\, a modality of play Theraplay\, to work with a wider range of populations\, such as children with autism and older children\nDescribe strategies for dealing with resistant clients \nDay 3: Adapting Theraplay to Work with Trauma and Complex Families\nIf you work with children who have been traumatised\, have attachment disorders or complex families we highly recommend that you attend this program. DESCRIPTION:Systemic Approaches to Working with Individuals\, Couples and Families \nDo you want to work more confidently and effectively with families? Do you know how to troubleshoot when treatment gets “stuck”?  \nBook a seat today to develop your family therapy skills to a deeper level. \nThis two-day workshop is aimed at practitioners who work with children\, young people\, adults\, couples\, families\, and/or organisations supporting clients with mental health issues. This workshop aims to introduce participants to core Family Therapy concepts and broaden practitioners understanding of how to view “the client’s problem”\, as well as provide practical skills and interventions for use with the client groups with which they work\, built on theoretical constructs from systemic\, structural\, solution focused and narrative family therapy models to teach core thinking and interviewing skills in family therapy. It makes complex theory easy to grasp and the related techniques easy to implement.\nThe workshop is interactive\, dynamic\, experiential\, and self-reflective in nature. The presenters use a variety of teaching tools and modalities to enhance the learning experience\, make complex theory easy to grasp and the related techniques easy to implement. \nThe presenters offer wise and compassionate guidance on everything from intake and assessment to treatment planning\, the nuts and bolts of specific interventions\, the nuances of establishing therapeutic relationships\, and how to troubleshoot when treatment gets “stuck”. Pre-readings and post-workshop resources are available for ongoing learning and interest. You will learn: \nTheoretical underpinnings of each of the major family therapy models \nHow to understand and effectively use key tools such as hypothesizing\, reframing\, circular questioning\, and genograms \nHow to engage all family members in therapy \nHow to understand the presenting problem in a family context vs the identified patient\nUnderstanding the family life cycle\, influences of family origin and multigenerational patterns \nGuidelines for conducting assessment\, initial interviews\, therapy plans and termination of treatment \nUnpacking relationship issues and understanding the influence of triangulation and alliances\nDemonstrations by experienced family therapists \nThis is essential training for any practitioner working with children and families ranging from Psychologists\, Psychiatrists\, Social Workers\, Clinical Counsellors\, Family Therapists\, Counsellors\, Child Protection and Disability Workers\, Guidance Officers\, Occupational Therapists\, Speech and Language Therapists\, Residential Care Workers and Foster Support Workers. By the completion of this workshop participants will have a family-focused lens in therapy and feel confident in conducting family therapy sessions or incorporating family therapy techniques into their current client interactions. \nLinking theory to practice features strongly throughout each component of the workshop\, as does developing practical skills to take away from the workshop. DESCRIPTION:The Core Training Day includes all aspects of the Customised Version necessary to enable and accredit the Facilitator to use the material immediately. \nThe fee covers the programmed two-day arrangement. It is preferable when the Core and Going Deeper Training days are run consecutively\, that participants attend both days. If that is not feasible or is not available\, you can attend the Going Deeper Training day within 12 months from the Core Training workshop\, as advertised on this website. \nThe Going Deeper Day is a follow-up and consolidation day. It includes skills training and practice opportunities for working with feedback techniques and workbook exercises. We are prepared to train such individuals and couples but they need to be selected and nominated with care.  Just because they are church members and have participated in a PREPARE/ENRICH program as part of their own preparation for marriage is not a sufficient qualification.
