SUMMARY:Managing Difficult Calls eWorkshop
DESCRIPTION:This 3-hour webinar is for any staff who may have to manage difficult calls and covers: \n\n\nPreparing for difficult calls; \n\n\nThe different types of difficult calls and callers and issues associated with the different types of calls and callers; \n\n\nManaging your own feelings in difficult circumstances; \n\n\nUsing language that does not create resistance in the other person; \n\n\nA suggested structure for some difficult conversations and; \n\n\nHow to manage different types of calls or callers including people who are angry\, distressed\, bewildered or confused; \n\n\nThe rambler\, the person who does not understand and; \n\n\nThe suicidal caller. \n\n\nAt the end of the webinar the participants will: \n\n\nHave developed their knowledge in how to prepare for difficult calls; \n\n\nHave extended their skills in responding to difficult calls and; \n\n\nHave broadened their knowledge of self-care strategies. \n\n\nWhen: Thursday\, 10th February 2022 from 9:30am to 12.30pm. \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. If payment has been received\, you will receive the Zoom details in the week prior to the eWorkshop . \nCost: The early bird booking is $195.00 (GST incl) if registered before 27th Jan 2022\, after the 27th Jan the Full Price is $250.00 (GST incl). David has run training on managing difficult calls for over 5000 people\, including staff and volunteers working on national support lines. David has also provided training for staff in emergency services on managing difficult calls as well many other state government departments. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Webinar: In Conversation with Rosie Batty AO – Raising Awareness and Action Concerning Family Violence
DESCRIPTION:Rosie Batty AO\, Australian domestic violence campaigner and the 2015 Australian of the Year joins our expert staff panel.\nTogether they will lead a conversation about the challenges and successes of raising awareness about family violence through action. \n  \nIdeal for\nProfessionals who work with people impacted by family violence\, including community organisation workers\, school staff\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers\, and counsellors. \n  \nAbout the presenters\nRosie Batty AO \nRosie Batty has risen above her personal tragedy and the great loss of her 11-year old-son\, Luke\, who was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of his father in a very public assault. Rosie’s story jolted Australia into recognising that family violence can happen to anyone. Victorian Police Chief Commissioner\, Ken Lay\, praising Rosie as the most ‘remarkable victim’ he has ever met\, says that Rosie has put domestic violence on the national agenda. \nRosie now champions efforts to fight domestic violence\, making many media and public speaking appearances to shine a spotlight on the issue and call for systemic changes. Rosie’s incredible strength and selfless efforts are an inspiration to many other victims of domestic violence and her courage and willingness to speak out will make Australia a far better place. \nHannah Aroni\, Relationships Australia Victoria \nHannah Aroni’s experience includes roles in disability advocacy; casework; counselling in a service supporting people with disability who have experienced trauma; curriculum design and facilitation within the university sector; and work as a legal researcher and judges’ associate at the Court of Appeal and Family Court of Australia. Alongside her role as a Clinical Designer and Facilitator at Relationships Australia Victoria\, she currently works as a Senior Caseworker and Projects Officer with In Good Faith Foundation\, supporting survivors of institutional sexual abuse and contributing to policy\, advocacy and education initiatives. She is also Co-Director of A_tistic\, a majority-neurodivergent-led theatre/recreation\, education and consulting organisation promoting better understanding of autism and the neurodiversity paradigm. \n  \nFormat\n75 minutes of content and 15 minutes of moderated Q&As. \n  \nOther information\nRegistrations close 24 hours before the webinar start time.
