SUMMARY:2022 ANROWS National Research Conference on Violence against Women
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 ANROWS National Research Conference\, “On the Agenda”\, explores evidence to inform contemporary policy priorities addressing violence against women and their children. It will enhance understanding of how evidence is and should be used to address policy priorities\, as well as acknowledging and fostering the importance of partnerships in producing and disseminating the evidence to reduce violence against women and children. \nYou will hear from ANROWS\, national and international researchers and other leading experts who will share what we are learning from the evidence base. There will also be opportunities for policymakers\, practice designers\, peak bodies\, practitioners and researchers to connect and collaborate with each other while unpacking the evidence and reflecting on how it does or could inform policy and practice. \nSpread over four days\, this online conference will be structured around research and policy priority topics. The conference allows for flexible attendance and provides accessible features and new ways to engage both with the content and with peers. With a forward-looking focus\, this conference will provide a fresh perspective on how to harness the expansive global VAW knowledge base and move ever closer to ending violence against women and children. \n

SUMMARY:Understanding and Maintaining Professional Boundaries eWorkshop
DESCRIPTION:This 3-hour webinar is aimed at providing the participants with the knowledge and skills to: understand the range of professional boundaries that need to be set with clients; know how to maintain boundaries with clients who may have difficulties working within those boundaries; understand the importance of professional boundaries for worker well-being and; have developed their skills in promoting their own well-being \nAt the end of the webinar the participants will: \n\n\nHave developed their understanding of the fundamental professional boundaries that need to be adhered to when working with clients (knowing your own role and remaining within it; understanding duty of care and confidentiality; only seeking information that is relevant to the service being provided; the importance of limiting self-disclosure) \n\n\nHave developed their skills in setting and maintaining boundaries when clients have difficulties doing this themselves (explaining your own role; simple scripts for explaining boundaries to clients) \n\n\nHave extended their skills in promoting their own well-being at work. (learning to not take things personally; making empathic connections with clients while not becoming over-involved; setting a strong boundary between work and home). \n\n\nWhen: Thursday\, 24th February 2022 from 9:30am to 12.30pm. \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. SUMMARY:Single Session Contacts in Online Therapeutic Practice (Half-day workshop)
DESCRIPTION:In single session consultations\, it’s important to structure the session with a beginning\, middle and end; narrow the data and approach the therapy with some pragmatism.\nParticipants of this workshop will engage with valuable strategies and tools that can be integrated into their practice. \n  \nLearning outcomes\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\nmake the most effective use of just one hour\nnarrow the data\nunderstand that\, in walk-in therapy\, the goal is for the client to leave the session with a sense of emotional relief and some sort of positive outcome\nlearn\, as early as possible\, what the client wants from the session\nunderstand client motivation\nlearn about risk and safety.\n\n  \nIdeal for\nThis workshop is designed for clinicians\, social workers\, community organisation workers\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers and counsellors at any level of experience. \n  \nAbout the presenter\nLilia Szarski is a clinical supervisor and experienced trainer at Relationships Australia Victoria and a qualified\, registered psychologist. SUMMARY:Webinar: What do the New and Emerging Family Law Reforms Mean for FDR Practice? (Panel Discussion)
DESCRIPTION:Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) provides Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) from centres across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.\nFDR can be a helpful way to resolve family law disputes about post-separation parenting arrangements\, financial matters and property settlements. \nIt is important for FDR practitioners (FDRPs)\, whether established or still in training\, to keep up with the emerging family law reforms. We invite you to join our expert panel: Dr Andrew Bickerdike\, Susan Hamilton-Green and Greg Rooney. \n  \nIdeal for\nFDRPs and students. \n  \nAbout the panellists\nDr Andrew Bickerdike is CEO of RAV and past Board Chair of Relationships Australia National. He holds tertiary qualifications in both economics and psychology and a Doctorate in Dispute Resolution. Andrew has experience and specialist training in individual\, marital and family therapy\, and FDR and has practiced as a mediator and FDRP for over 20 years. \nSusan Hamilton-Green has practised exclusively in Family Law for over 30 years. Her work has involved all aspects of family law\, including financial and parenting matters\, and a large part of her current practice involves appointments as an Independent Children’s Lawyer. She has been accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a specialist in Family Law since 1990. \nGreg Rooney has been a practising mediator in Australia since 1991. He retired from legal practice in 1996 to work full time as a mediator\, arbitrator and dispute resolution consultant. He has mediated more than 1\,500 disputes in a diverse range of conflicts including multi-party disputes involving government institutions\, commercial and industrial disputes\, agricultural disputes\, franchise disputes\, matrimonial disputes and disputes involving conflict in the workplace. \n  \nHost\nAstrid Horter is the Program Leader FDR and Mediation Training at RAV. She holds tertiary qualifications in law and psychology and is an experienced FDRP and child consultant. Astrid coordinates RAV’s Graduate Diploma of FDR\, Mediation Training Course\, and delivers training for RAV and external organisations. Astrid has extensive experience working in community organisations as a clinical supervisor\, trainer and manager. \n  \nFormat\n75 minutes of content and 15 minutes of moderated Q&As. \n  \nOther information\nRegistrations close 24 hours before the webinar start time.
