SUMMARY:Difficult Conversations-How To Talk to Anyone About Almost Anything eWorkshop 17-Aug-2022
DESCRIPTION:This 3 hour eWorkshop is for any staff who may have difficult conversations with clients\, other service providers or work colleagues. \nThe eWorkshop will cover: \n\n\nhow to structure a difficult conversation and find a positive purpose; \n\n\nthe importance of empathy and when not to empathise; \n\n\nkeeping the conversation on track; \n\n\nusing language that does not create resistance; \n\n\nrecognising when not to have a difficult conversation and how to leave a conversation that may be unhelpful; \n\n\ngaining agreement with the other party and; \n\n\nmaking a plan for the future. \n\n\nAt the end of the training the participants will have: \n• Developed their skills in preparing for a difficult conversation \n• Have extended their knowledge and skills in how to structure a difficult conversation. \n• Expanded their knowledge and developed their skills in using language that does not create resistance in the other party or parties \n• Have developed their capacity to be flexible in responding to the capacity and needs of the other party or parties when having a difficult conversation. \nThe topics covered in the eWorkshop will be tailored to the needs of the group and could include:  delivering difficult news to individuals and families; supporting individuals who may be distressed; difficult performance conversations; responding to the difficult behaviour of another person; responding when another person criticises you; personality clashes in the workplace; when to engage in mediation and when not to engage in mediation; difficult conversations in close relationships\, among many other possible topics. \nWhen: Wednesday\, 17th August 2022 from 9:30am to 12.30pm. \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. SUMMARY:The Accidental Mediator (2-day training)
DESCRIPTION:There are many situations where you might find yourself in the middle of a conflict and want or need to intervene to support the parties to create a more collaborative\, solution-focused space.\nIn this training you will learn about mediation principles\, conflict resolution skills and strategies you can apply in a variety of settings where conducting a formal mediation process is not possible\, but a structured and skillful intervention will be helpful. \n  \nDates/times\n2 x 3-hour sessions from 9:30am-12:30pm AEST on 17 and 31 August 2022. \n  \nLearning outcomes\nDuring this training\, participants will gain: \n\nan understanding of conflict and different conflict resolution approaches\, including mediation\nan understanding of your own response to conflict and how to manage this\na structured conflict resolution and negotiation process to help achieve positive outcomes that can be applied in a range of different settings\nstrategies and micro skills to implement a collaborative and solution-focused approach to conflict management\nself-care strategies and ways to manage the emotional impacts of being involved in conflict.\n\n  \nIdeal for\nCommunity organisation practitioners and team leaders\, school staff\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers\, and counsellors\, and anyone wanting to find out more about mediation. \n  \nAbout the presenters\nAstrid Horter is the Program Leader Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) and Mediation Training at Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV). She holds tertiary qualifications in law and psychology and is an experienced FDR Practitioner (FDRP) and child consultant. Astrid coordinates RAV’s Graduate Diploma of FDR\, Mediation Training Course\, and delivers training for RAV and external organisations. Astrid has extensive experience working in community organisations as a clinical supervisor\, trainer and manager. \nJohn Ravesi is a highly experienced FDRP\, mediator\, counsellor and coach. He is currently a Trainer/Assessor within the FDR and Mediation Training Program at RAV and delivers a variety of programs to external organisations. He has held multiple senior leadership\, supervisory and clinical roles in a variety of community organisations. \nAdrien March is an FDRP with a broad base of skills and experience\, including mediation practice\, training and dispute resolution research. Her practice experience covers mediating using facilitative and transformative models in the FDR and National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) schemes. Adrien’s specialisations include working with rainbow families and high conflict disputes.
