SUMMARY:Online workshop: Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Learn strategies to help clients re-script their narratives and focus on their core values and behaviours.\nNarrative therapy is a technique that aims to separate the individual from the problem\, allowing them to externalise their issues rather than internalising them. It relies on the individual’s own skills and sense of purpose to guide them through challenging times. \nSolution-Focused Brief Therapy is a short-term\, evidence-based therapeutic approach which focuses on helping clients to achieve their goals. Incorporating positive psychology principles and practices\, it is designed to help clients change their thoughts and behaviour by building solutions rather than focusing on problems. This approach provides a hope friendly\, positive emotion-eliciting\, future-oriented vehicle to help clients formulate\, motivate\, achieve\, and sustain desired behavioural change. \n\n\n  \n\nLearning outcomes\nAt the end of this workshop\, you’ll be able to: \n\napply the underlying theoretical frameworks and principles of Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy as therapeutic models and understand their applications.\napply these approaches and techniques to help clients to make meaningful change.\nunderstand where and when these approaches may be useful for clients and integrating parts of the model in practice.\n\n\n\n  \n\nIdeal for\nClinicians\, social workers\, community organisation workers\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers and counsellors at any level of experience. \n\n\n  \n\nAbout the presenter\nJeff Roberts is a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years’ experience in counselling across a variety of mental health settings in Australia and overseas. He is highly experienced in performing IQ\, personality and memory testing. Jeff specialises in men’s health and is also experienced working with lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, intersex\, queer\, asexual and other gender and sexually diverse (LGBTIQA+) communities on a range of different issues including depression\, anxiety\, sexual health and interpersonal issues. SUMMARY:Online workshop: Mediating with Rainbow Families
DESCRIPTION:Grow your skills and confidence working with rainbow families in this interactive workshop. Participants will learn about reflective practice skills and increase their capacity for inclusive mediation.\n\n\n\n  \n\nLearning outcomes\nAt the end of this workshop\, you’ll be able to demonstrate: \n\nknowledge of the kind of reflective practice required to work with rainbow families\nawareness of family structures and family formation\nincreased confidence with appropriate pronoun use\nknowledge of family law specific to lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, intersex\, queer\, asexual and other sexually and gender diverse (LGBTIQA+) people\, related to areas such as defacto/divorce matters\, property settlement\, child support and family violence\nskills and strategies for creating a safe and welcoming environment for rainbow families.\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nIdeal for\nFamily dispute resolution practitioner (FDRPs)\, counsellors\, family therapists\, and parent-adolescent mediators. \n\n\n\n  \n\nAbout the presenters\nNatasha Belmont is an FDRP\, mediator\, restorative engagement facilitator\, trainer and clinical psychologist in training. She holds tertiary qualifications in law and psychology. Natasha has worked for Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) in a variety of roles\, including leading the family dispute resolution (FDR) and Mediation Training programs\, and for Women’s Legal Service as an Education and Engagement Coordinator. She is also involved with various government departments at the state and federal levels for dispute resolution processes and works in private practice. \nAdrien March is an FDRP with a broad base of skills and experience\, including mediation practice\, training and dispute resolution research. Her practice experience covers mediating using facilitative and transformative models in the FDR and National Mediation Accreditation System (NMAS) schemes. Adrien’s specialisations include working with rainbow families and high-conflict disputes.
