SUMMARY:Life Transitions and Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:Why are life transitions important?\nFor many people\, adapting to a transition\, such as moving interstate\, marriage\, losing a job (or starting a new job)\, divorce\, separation\, the birth of a child (or the death of a loved one)\, or any other transition that severely alters one’s day-to-day life\, can be challenging. These sudden and sometimes extreme transitions can affect a clients mental health and lead to symptoms like anxiety\, fear\, loneliness\, and physical issues\, such as trouble sleeping\, panic attacks\, and digestive problems. \n  \nWhy are life transitions difficult?\nFor the most part\, human beings are creatures of habit. They depend on routines to help maintain a sense of safety and orderliness\, so when something happens to disrupt these routines\, people almost always experience feelings of stress and anxiety. When someone experiences a major Life Transition\, they are forced to re-invent the way they travel through life.\n \n  \nLearning outcomes\nDuring this webinar\, you’ll: \n\nlearn to identify and explore the life transition/s and its associated challenges that a client is experiencing\nunderstand how to support clients with relevant strategies that will help navigate life transitions more effectively\nbecome aware of appropriate counselling therapies to help clients that are experiencing a mental health issue due to a transition in their life\nlearn about different beliefs/perspectives about life transitions and gain a better awareness about factors that influence these beliefs and their associated impact.\n\n  \nIdeal for\nCommunity organisation workers\, school staff\, health professionals\, youth workers\, child and family workers\, psychologists and counsellors. \n\n  \nAbout the presenter\nRichard Frank is a clinical psychologist and mental health practitioner with many years of experience in both clinical practice and management of mental health services.
