SUMMARY:A DEVELOPING BRAIN - Mildura
DESCRIPTION:Supporting Whole Child Development\nDesigned specifically for early childhood settings\, this workshop explores the recent developments in neuroscience that have given us remarkable insight into the conditions and experiences that can dramatically influence the growth and development of all young children in positive and enduring ways. Early childhood is a particularly critical time for the developing brain\, and the early childhood environment is rich with the necessary experiences and relationships to support children in their development\, behaviour\, learning\, and social and emotional well-being. The relationships and experiences children are exposed to in their earliest years\, will influence the neural foundations upon which their growth and development is built. This dynamic workshop will explore these conditions\, and ways early childhood professionals can translate this knowledge into practice to nurture the holistic development of all children. \nThe workshop will cover: \n\nhow the brain develops and how the experiences and relationships children are exposed to in early childhood will influence behaviour\, learning\, regulation\, social and emotional development\, and general well-being;\nthe relationships and experiences children need during early childhood to optimise learning\, and behavioural\, social\, and emotional development;\nthe strategies that can be used at a group or individual level to support the building of strong neural foundations in all young children;\nusing neuroscience to respond effectively to tantrums\, big behaviour\, and ‘big feelings’;\nlooking behind big behaviour – an easy\, practical way to understand behaviour through a neuroscientific lens\, and the importance of translating this into all early childhood practices;\nhow to nurture emotional self-regulation in children;\nwhy many common behaviour management techniques don’t work\, their impact on the developing brain\, and what to do instead;\nthe importance of attachment in building the strong neural foundations for essential areas of development including the ability to form meaningful relationships\, emotional regulation\, joy\, empathy\, independence\, and resilience;\nhow to activate attachment systems;\nthe impact of trauma on the developing brain\, specifically in relation to learning\, relationships\, social and emotional development\, behaviour;\nthe relational conditions and experiences that can protect and strengthen young children who have experienced trauma.\n\nWorkshop includes: \n\nCatering\nA copy of the Dear You\, Love From Your Brain book valued at $20.99\nLesson plan (early childhood)\nCPD certificate\nOne hour post workshop group coaching via Zoom.\n\nTarget audience: Early childhood educators\, support staff\, and all professionals who support them including occupational therapists\, social workers\, school counsellors\, psychologists\, early childhood specialists. \nThis workshop is approved for the School Readiness Funding Menu. This workshop can also be delivered In-house at your early childcare centre: $4840.00 (GST Included) and associated travel costs between $1000.00 – $1600.00 depending on your location for a maximum of 25 participants. Contact us to ask how. \nPresented by: Karen Young founded the popular website\, Hey Sigmund\, attracting millions of readers each year worldwide and is author of the best selling Hey Warrior book for young people with anxiety. She is a regular contributor to Parenting Magazine in New Zealand\, and can often be heard on Australian radio and TV programs such as The Project and the ABC. Her articles have been translated into a numerous languages and her work has been published internationally. SUMMARY:Strengths-Based Practice with Multicultural and Diverse Young People: Working confidently across difference - eWorkshop -4 -Aug- 2026
DESCRIPTION:This interactive online workshop supports practitioners to work confidently\, relationally\, and ethically with multicultural and diverse young people\, without over-controlling\, stereotyping\, or avoiding difference. Grounded in strengths-based practice and cultural humility\, the workshop focuses on posture\, relationship\, and how practitioners show up in youth contexts shaped by identity\, power\, culture\, and political discourse. The emphasis is on working with young people – holding safety and boundaries while creating conditions for belonging\, participation\, and influence. \n The workshop integrates reflective and practical components\, moving from awareness into application. Participants engage with real-world youth scenarios\, facilitation strategies\, and asset-based tools that can be applied immediately in groups\, programs\, consultations\, and participatory processes. \n Who should attend: \nThis workshop is designed for people working with\, for\, or alongside young people from multicultural\, culturally diverse\, racialised\, and faith-based backgrounds\, including youth workers\, facilitators\, managers\, policy and strategy staff\, youth development officers\, and others shaping youth-focused systems\, services\, or decisions. \n Participants will develop: \n\n\nGreater confidence working across difference without fear\, rigidity\, or avoidance \n\n\n\n\nA clear strengths-based and culturally humble frame for multicultural youth work \n\n\n\n\nPractical facilitation strategies that support inclusion\, participation\, and influence \n\n\n\n\nTools to recognise and mobilise young people’s strengths (head\, heart\, and hands) \n\n\n\n\nIncreased awareness of power\, positioning\, and adult authority in youth spaces \n\n\n\n\nApproaches for moving beyond tokenism toward meaningful participation \n\n\nWhen: Tuesday 4th August 2026 from 1.00pm- 4.00pm (AEST) \nWhere: Online eWorkshop via Zoom. SUMMARY:THERAPLAY LEVEL 1 & MIM - Kingscliff
DESCRIPTION:Theraplay Level 1 & MIM\nTheraplay® is an evidenced-based\, attachment-focused intervention utilising non-symbolic\, interactional play to re-create experiences of secure attachment formation between parent and child. Therapist-guided short-term\, dyadic therapy focuses on improving the child’s behavioural and emotional challenges through the parent-child relationship. In a session\, the therapist guides the parent and child through playful games\, challenging activities\, and nurturing interactions. Theraplay® helps the child experience previously difficult interactions in new ways\, helps overcome fear/ shame\, increase trust\, and create a positive change in the child’s sense of self.
