SUMMARY:Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Level 1 - North Lakes QLD
DESCRIPTION:Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Level 1\nDyadic Developmental Psychotherapy/ Practice (DDP) is an intervention model developed by Dan Hughes\, Clinical Psychologist (U.S.A.). DDP is family-based and is focused on facilitating the child’s readiness and ability to establish a secure attachment with his/her caregivers. It is called Dyadic Developmental Practice both to focus attention on the importance of reciprocity in parenting\, caregiving and therapy\, and also to draw attention to the fact that abuse\, neglect and trauma can seriously impact on the child’s developmental age and stage. \nThis intervention is theoretically based on the models of attachment theory and intersubjectivity\, and is consistent with the needs of children and young people who have experienced developmental trauma. It is an approach that: \n\nIntegrates the areas of neurobiology of trauma\, early child development and attachment theory\, to produce a therapeutic and parenting approach that assists professionals to understand and effectively support children with trauma- attachment problems\, and their families.\nCommunicates playfulness\, acceptance\, curiosity and empathy (PACE) in order to help the child regulate their feelings (often fear\, shame and anger) associated with past experiences and to create together new meanings to be integrated into the child’s life story (autobiographical narrative).\nRecognises the vital role which adoptive parents\, foster carers and residential workers play in the recovery of traumatised\, attachment-resistant children.\nProvides a set of principles that can support networks; inform and enrich parenting; and can support the child outside of the home eg in residential settings and at school\n\nParticipants are referred to the Healing Relational Trauma with Attachment Focused Interventions which underpins this training. \nDDP Level One Training \nThis is an introductory 28-hour training course relevant to professionals and therapists who have experience in communicating with and working therapeutically with children and young people and their families. It is focused on families and residential care homes when children have experienced past developmental trauma and have associated attachment difficulties. \nBy the end of this course participants will understand: \n\nThe impact of secure developmental attachment on neurological\, affective\, cognitive\, and behavioural development\nHow developmental trauma (abuse and neglect) create insecure and disorganised attachment patterns which impede normal development\nPrinciples of psychotherapy\, effective communication and parenting that facilitate the development of attachment security\nSpecific strategies of parenting and communication that facilitate the development of a secure attachment and help children integrate past trauma and abusive experiences\nHow the caregiver’s attachment history and attachment patterns can be important factors when providing care for children who have experienced developmental trauma.\n\nIn this four-day training\, principles and interventions are presented through formal discussion\, case examples\, videotape of therapy sessions\, role-play\, and hand-outs. \nA MAXIMUM of 27 participants is permitted. \nA full description of the content for each of the four days can be found here. \nMEET the TRAINERS \n

SUMMARY:Solution Focused Brief Therapy - Brisbane
DESCRIPTION:Two Day Intensive Workshop\nSolution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a user-friendly and evidence-based approach\, effective with a range of mental health and well-being issues including anxiety\, depression and trauma. Its strength-base and future-focus make it ideal for situations requiring rapid client engagement and cooperation. By concentrating on a preferred future rather than a regretted past and by focusing on resources rather than deficits the solution focused approach has proved an effective model\, especially useful where clients are in great difficulty and who urgently need to find a way forward. \nSFBT purposefully shifts from “problem-driven” to “solution-focused” to dramatically change the outcome of treatment regardless of problem or diagnosis. Through “future-focused” questions\, building on exceptions and reframing of problems\, mental health professionals can steer clients away from the problem and towards change. Building on what works and emphasising client’s strengths/ resources and achievable solutions\, strengthens client resilience and agency. Using the client’s own language\, beliefs and preferences\, illuminates how to define changeable problems\, along with highly meaningful and specific goals. That when presented with ideas and interventions as “suggestions” and “experiments” instead of directives\, further improves the likelihood of clients taking action. \nBenefits for mental health services\, professionals and consumers include: \n\nFuture-focused – avoid getting stuck with clients\, addressing the same problems & symptoms week after weeks\nEvidence-based – four decades of empirical studies show success rates average 60%.\nCollaborative & respectful – uses client language\, beliefs & preferences to develop meaningful & specific goals\, regardless of problem or diagnosis.\nTime Efficient – low number of sessions (4-5). Reduce caseloads & wait-lists.\nBuild staff morale – staff feel better about their work\, clients & colleagues. Reduce burn-out.\nContemporary – aligns with recovery model\, strengths-based\, positive psychology & appreciative inquiry.\nWide application – therapy\, supervision\, schools\, leadership.\nSimple and practical – learn in 2-days. Clients say “it makes sense”.\n\nThis comprehensive introduction offers a thorough overview of SFBT with cases from mental health\, trauma\, substance abuse\, child & adolescent difficulties. Learn when & how to use the core techniques and tools through detailed demonstrations\, skills practice\, discussions & videos of real therapy sessions. With an emphasis on what works\, it has been presented over 700 times to mental health services across Australia & New Zealand\, This ‘flag-ship’ workshop is the no.1 choice for Australia’s leading front-line mental health services and professionals. \nPresented by: Michael Durrant\, Australia’s leading international trainer of Solution Focused Brief Therapy. \n
