SUMMARY:Effective Group Leadership Workshop (2-days In-person)
DESCRIPTION: \nEffective Group Leadership is a 2-day workshop which develops the necessary skills for group leaders to facilitate creative group work. The training covers the principles of using creative group work techniques and tools. The focus includes changing group dynamics\, increased understanding of motivational group work models for change and the use of practical creative exercises. All participants receive a Group Leadership Skills Report on their strengths and areas for development plus a copy of Continual Change Groupwork: Being an effective group leader (2018). \n  \nEffective leadership is a powerful phenomenon that uses a group leader’s own self confidence and belief systems. This workshop explores the belief systems and interpersonal communication needed by leaders to create vision\, hope and a common purpose that unites the energy of the group members. The group leader’s subtle body language and self-presentation skills will be explored as they will impact on ultimate achievement of group members’ goals.  \nLearning Outcomes – Participants will: \n\nexplore the use of group facilitation skills\nidentify and practice the key skills used in facilitating strengths based group work\nuse experiential learning and creative adult education principles\nuse multi-sensory tools to increase motivation and support change\nrespond effectively to group dynamics and how to promote individual and group change\npractice strengths-based group work when responding to existing trauma\ndevelop skills in using flexibility in leadership roles\nunderstand key tasks/attitudinal responses that leaders attend to in the group\ndevelop their group leadership presence.\n\n

SUMMARY:Early intervention with fathers and family violence eWorkshop 29-Apr-2022
DESCRIPTION:This workshop explores key skills for working effectively with men’s responses to conflict situations using a child centred approach. It explores practical ways workers can respond when working with men who experience high levels of conflict or use family violence in relationships. It focuses on early intervention work with these men so that they may access other behaviour change resources in their community. \nThis workshop explores how workers can better engage with men to increase their motivation to access further support to address family violence issues. It builds upon the worker’s experience and introduces a range of practical tools that can be used with clients in a variety of settings responses to conflict to build insight\, responsibility and change. \nThis workshop focuses on: \n\n\nthe use of the domestic violence framework \n\n\nusing the generative approach to working with men and conflict/ family violence issues \n\n\nusing a child centred approach to support change \n\n\nways to focus on respectful relationship skills \n\n\ndifferences between anger management and family violence work \n\n\nsupporting men to access additional services \n\n\nusing response based approaches to create insight\, responsibility and greater safety \n\n\ntools and exercises to use when working with men to enable them to better regulate conflict issues. \n\n\nPlease note: This workshop was previously named Engaging men’s responses to Family Violence. This is a one-day eWorkshop that has been adapted from face-to-face into an online format that is still interactive and group focused. \nWhen: Friday 29th April 2022 from 9.00am to 4.30pm. \nWhere: Online\, delivered via zoom. You will receive a zoom link one week prior to the workshop where you will be able to access the eWorkshop. \nCost: The early bird booking is $330.00 if registration occurs before 15th April (GST included). The fee for registrations after the 15th April is $385.00 (GST included). \nTo register: Register and complete payment. A Tax Invoice will be emailed to you. The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs\, for the registration to be fully confirmed. \nFacilitators: David Nancarrow \nDavid has worked for the last 17 years in a range of professional roles. He has extensive experience in working with the Education Department and working with school social behaviours and anger management counselling. As a mediator\, David has worked with clients who had high levels of conflict\, domestic violence and relationship breakdowns. This led him to develop the ‘Core Value’ therapy for anger management\, conflict and mental health issues. \nHe has spoken several times at the Australian International Mental Health Conferences about the success of this therapy. He is passionate about delivering and training professionals in Father Inclusive Practice. He has developed programs for the Education and Youth Justice Department\, called ‘My Path’ which is a social behaviour program for teenage males who are not attending school. \nAs a child consultant David specialized in symbol and sand tray therapy for children of separated families. He has managed a Mental Illness organisation which utilized the Boston Model of Recovery for mentally ill clients. Also\, he is the author of two books\, ‘What’s for Tea Dad’\, a fun interactive cookbook for first time dads and ‘Honey I am Pregnant’\, a manual for first-time dads. Both are available as free e-books. \nCurrently David works delivering Mental Health and Wellbeing training for OzHelp Tasmania and the business sector. David’s goal is to help equip people to be mentally and emotionally healthy to have successful and lasting relationships with themselves and others. \nFeedback from previous workshops \nWe collect feedback from participants at the conclusion of each workshop we facilitate. Some of the feedback collected from 67 participants between 2016 and 2018 in David Nancarrow’s Core Value Therapy workshop includes: \n\n“Fantastic day.
