CentacareCQ has an opportunity for a full-time Domestic Violence Counsellor – Crisis Support to join their dedicated Family and Community Support Services Team, based in Emerald.
This position provides counselling and support to people, predominantly women, who are at risk of, or are experiencing, domestic and family violence. Together with the Support Services team, you will work to achieve safer communities through prevention and early intervention activities.
Duties of the role include:
Providing risk assessment (including safety and support planning), information, support and specialist counselling to people affected, or at risk of being affected, by domestic and family violence
Developing, planning and implementing psycho-educational programs to children and adults affected by domestic and family violence
Engaging in integrated community responses to domestic and family violence
Liaising with crisis response service providers for referrals and networking purposes
Providing empowerment-based advocacy services to clients
Monitoring and reviewing cases
Implementing client outcome measures in accordance with service guidelines, funding accountability and professional responsibilities
Travelling to provide services at a range of sites including schools, outreach centres and other agencies
Working flexible hours to meet client needs, including possible work outside of normal business hours
Providing counselling and educational services (as needed) under other CentacareCQ Family & Community Support Services Programs, as per funding and organisational guidelines
Completing all required administrative duties including case notes, client bookings and the collection of data as per organisation policies and procedures
