Pinangba is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led service delivery arm of UnitingCare. The foundations of Pinangba are built from our cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships.
We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, passionate and highly capable Family Case worker to join the team at our Pinangba Cape York Family Centre on a 12 months fixed term basis.
Our Cape York Family Centre runs of a ground breaking model that focuses on supporting the healing and transformation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in a residential bush setting located 25 minutes outside of Cooktown.
The unique Family Therapy model is strongly supported with University aligned professional development program and International Family Therapy expertise. The ground breaking model is demonstrating outstanding outcomes in the first 18 months of operations; this position presents a unique opportunity to be a part of a meaningful close the gap initiative whilst being based in the gorgeous scenic location of Cooktown.
In this role you will visit and assess high needs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families at high risk of breakdown due to alcohol and drug use who also have secondary related mental and/or physical health issues.
Supplementing this you will also manage their transition back to community living which will include coordinating any additional support services they may require to have a seamless re-integration.
To be successful in this role you will have completed of currently be undertaking study within a health, justice or education field. In addition you will be a proud member of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community with good knowledge of the customs and culture of the traditional custodians of the Cape York Region. Supplementing the above you will currently have or have the ability to obtain a four wheel driving certification.
This is a unique opportunity to experience life in one of the most beautiful, historic and unspoilt natural wonderlands in Australia. This role includes subsidised housing onsite at our centre and will include light plane travel and overnight camping.
