Handle with Care™-Staff safety and defusing situations where individuals may be aggressive eWorkshop 14-February-2024

This eWorkshop is for anyone who may have to work with individuals who may be angry and potentially aggressive.

The aim of the eWorkshop is to assist the participants to develop their skills in keeping themselves safe and in defusing situations where individuals may be aggressive.

This eWorkshop will cover

  • Managing your own feelings in difficult circumstances;

  • Minimising risk;

  • Legal issues;

  • Guidelines for managing difficult situations;

  • General principles for managing difficult behaviour;

  • Using language that does not create resistance;

  • A suggested structure for some difficult conversations;

  • Dealing with individuals according to their different anger triggers and;

  • Communication skills and strategies for defusing situations where individuals may be aggressive.

When: Wednesday, 14th February 2024 from 9:30am to 12.30pm.(AEDT)

Where: Online eWorkshop delivered via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom details one week prior to the eWorkshop.

Cost: The early bird booking is $195.00 registration (GST included) if registered before 31st January 2024, if registered after the 31st January 2024 then the Full Price is $250.00.

To register: Register and complete payment. A Tax Invoice will be emailed to you. The payment needs to be completed before the workshop occurs, for the registration to be fully confirmed.

Facilitator: David Cherry

David Cherry is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who has been working for over 40 years. David has provided training for over 20,000 people in agencies all around Australia, assisting staff to learn how to keep themselves safe in difficult situations and develop their skills in defusing situations where individuals may become aggressive. David and his colleagues have run training for Code Grey teams in hospitals. David’s book entitled Managing Violent and Potentially Violent Situations-A Guide for Individuals and Organisations, which he co-wrote with Bronwyn Upston, has been distributed to 4000 emergency relief providers Australia wide.
