Webinar: Trauma Recovery vs. Trauma Resolution – Increasing Options for Client Care

March 17, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am AEDT

$50

Generally, what is called “trauma therapy” consists primarily of processing or reviewing the trauma memories by the client in the hopes that resolving the distress of those memories will secure recovery. However, there is a large portion of traumatised individuals who either can not (because of fragility or instability) or do not want to (due to fear, financial constraints, personal preference) revisit the past. In those cases there have, to date, been few options available for those clients. In this webinar, an important distinction between trauma recovery and trauma resolution will be clarified. In addition, multiple options for recovering from trauma without the necessity of resolving memories will be proposed.

Learning outcomes

  1. Distinguish between trauma recovery and trauma resolution.
  2. Gain the advantage of “improved quality of life” as the treatment goal.
  3. Discuss the importance of individualised treatment options Identify those clients who may or may not benefit from memory processing.
  4. Acquire tools for trauma recovery without memory processing.
