NMAS – Final Training

May 2, 2025 - May 10, 2025

$3000

AMDRAS has begun its transition, but you can still become accredited under the existing NMAS rules until 30 June 2025.

But you’ll need to act quickly.

GPD is running one final NMAS training in May. This NMAS training is your last chance to undergo a simpler accreditation process and smoothly transition into the AMDRAS system.

Compare the difference between NMAS and AMDRAS to understand why you should enrol in this final NMAS training now!

Training Course – Duration

NMAS: A training course of a minimum of 38 hours in duration

AMDRAS: The Certificate Of Training course lasts a minimum of 45 hours.

The Assessment

NMAS: The applicant performs the role of a mediator in a simulated mediation of at least 1.5 hours with an assessor observing the simulation. Assessment is based on criteria reflecting the knowledge, skills and ethical principles articulated in the Practice Standards.

AMDRAS: (1) Written assessment of 1200 words, designed to consolidate learning and promote reflective practice, in the form of a test, journal, workbook, or assignment (or any combination of them); AND (2) A standardised simulated mediation, which must be of 2 to 2.5 hours duration and designed to demonstrate each stage of the mediation process except the intake and preparatory phases.

Accreditation renewal requirements

NMAS: A mediator must have conducted at least 25 hours of mediation, co-mediation or conciliation within the two-year cycle and have undertaken CPD of at least 25 hours.

AMDRAS: The AMDRAS recognises three levels of accreditation and advancement:

(i) Accredited Mediator: An Accredited Mediator must have conducted at least 20 hours of dispute resolution-related practice (e.g., as a mediator, co-mediator, or third-party dispute resolver.) and have undertaken CPD of at least 25 hours.

(ii) Advanced Mediator: An Advanced Mediator must have conducted at least 40 hours of dispute resolution-related practice (e.g., as a mediator, co-mediator, or third-party dispute resolver.) and have undertaken CPD of at least 25 hours.

(iii) Leading Mediator: A Leading Mediator has the same requirements as an Advanced Mediator, except that Leading Mediators with 25 or more years of practice as registered practitioners have their CPD and practice requirements reduced by half.

Growing your Career – You need to start NOW

NMAS: Recognised as an accredited mediator on the National Register.

AMDRAS: To go from being an Accredited Mediator to an Advanced Mediator, you must have been an Accredited Mediator for at least the previous 4 years, completed 150 hours of practice, and completed the Practicum Certificate Course. So you need to get started today!

Why GPD Training

Unlike other training providers, GPD runs its NMAS training over six days. This time frame ensures you have the foundational knowledge, skills and framework for dispute resolution practice.

There will be a range of role-play scenarios designed around each group dynamic.

Becoming NMAS accredited is not just a personal milestone; it’s a powerful marketing tool that enhances your credibility and expands your services to clients. There has been a concerted effort to have consumers, government departments, businesses, and private enterprises call on nationally accredited mediators for their dispute resolution processes. Being an accredited mediator puts you at the forefront.

Time is not on your side. The fact is, the longer you wait to become accredited, the longer it will be before you can advance through AMDRAS levels.

To advance your career and income, join this final NMAS training now.
