Workshop: Introduction to Couple Therapy
October 28 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm$310
Enhance your knowledge for working effectively in the emotionally-charged field of couple therapy.
This stand-alone workshop introduces an integrated therapeutic framework for working with couples in counselling or therapy, including how to work within the context of a couple relationship when only one partner is present.
Workshop concepts assimilate Neurobiology, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Integrated Behavioural Marital theories, and are illustrated using a combination of case examples, DVD demonstrations and presentation slides.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions, share your own experiences in providing couple counselling or therapy and discuss workshop concepts in collaborative small group settings.
On completion of this workshop, you will be able to:
- develop your thinking about problematic couple dynamics, using an integrated theoretical perspective
- understand the implications of recent neuro-scientific discoveries for couple therapy
- appreciate the challenges involved in working with couple difficulties when only one partner is present.
This workshop is also a great introduction for those thinking of applying to Relationships Australia Victoria’s Specialist Course in Couple Therapy, or Swinburne University’s Master of Social Science (Couple Counselling) at the second year level.
Experienced counsellors, psychologists and post-graduate students.
