Your new role

  • Based in Deakin, ACT
  • $42.49 per hour with a 3-hour minimum engagement

Duties

In collaboration with the ACT Gambling Support Service Team, the Peer Support Worker will:

  • Draw upon their lived experience of gambling harm and their personal recovery journey, to develop empathic relationships and support personal recovery for clients of AGSS
  • Provide support, including co-facilitation, to AGSS group programs, community consultation and education activities;
  • assist in the development and implementation of AGSS communication strategy, campaigns and events including online content for RACR and AGSS websites and social media, with the aim of increasing awareness and engagement among target groups.
  • Maintains and shares knowledge of local services and cultivates referral pathways for current and potential clients of the AGSS which responds to their needs;

What you’ll need to succeed

  1. Identify as having a lived experience of gambling harm and demonstrate current stability in your recovery
  2. Be willing to effectively, respectfully and appropriately use your lived experience of substance use issues in your every day work.
  3. Experience and confidence to co-facilitate a peer support group, identify any risk issues and seek support from clinical staff where
  4. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
